Our senior stallion
Coal Creek Black Oak
(Caduceus Quentin X Coal Creek Licorice)
2000 black stallion

Coal Creek Black Oak was our first Morgan
stallion, purchased at the age of 9. Black Oak was chosen for his undeniable
Morgan type, gentle spirit, boldness and durability. Black Oak is "classic" in the sense that he is well-balanced,
possessing well-rounded hind quarters, laid back shoulder, excellent bone, solid feet, medium length
neck and a gorgeous head with a wide eye set and soft kind eye. He is big while retaining type.
Black Oak was discovered on an Iowa farm (bred by Gary Wallace) running with a herd of mares and foals, I am sure he had
weathered many a storm without shelter and many a summer without fly spray! The fact that we could walk up to him, pet him, put our hand on his cheek and move him, halter him and lead him away from his herd and all without a sound or any
aggressive behavior what so ever was incredible and a true tell all of his character. I liked that
he had lived with the herd and had been "educated" by the mares! We brought him home, let him settle in
and then the training began! Lots of ground work and the basic fundamentals for reining have been accomplished.
His natural boldness has worked in our favor when competing in
Extreme Cowboy events; he is not afraid and
behaved well in a public setting. Black Oak is also a pleasure to take on a trail ride.
He has also learned how to hand breed and is a gentleman to the mares.
Breeding your mare to Black Oak
provides and opportunity to add durability, soundness and substance while still retaining outstanding breed
type, style and beauty. We are expecting two foals by Coal Creek Black Oak in 2011. Consider Black Oak for
your mare! Feel free to contact us regarding breeding information.

Magnum is our second Morgan stallion! We were thrilled to purchase this colorful young Morgan stallion for our farm.
Magnum is very kind with an excellent disposition. He has a beautiful head with a soft eye and small ears, well-balanced body, medium length neck and solid legs and feet. He is absolutely
gorgeous, moves with lots of action and reach, is quick on his feet,
athletic and has an excellent disposition.
Magnum was started under saddle and parks out thanks to the folks at Melrog Morgans. Trudy and Roger's grand kids even got a ride!
Currently Magnum is in reining training. He is proving to be an excellent example; modeling the magnetic
presence, tractable disposition and versatile working heritage of the old style Morgan.
Magnum has been tested by UC Davis
(EE,AA,CrDd) and is homozygous for black (this means he cannot
produce a chestnut foal) and the agouti gene, with one cream
gene and one dun gene. We have two
lovely 2011 foals by Magnum. Inquiries are invited on these foals.
